Lambeth Councillor Matt Parr went to the roof of Styles Gardens on Loughborough Estate to see Brixton  Energy installing their second photovoltaic (solar power to you and me) project.

It was great to meet some of the local young people who are receiving training in installation of solar panels, often complementing their engineering studies.

Brixton energy is part of Repowering South London, a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in facilitating the co-production of community-owned renewable energy projects. It's a community organisation with a team of dedicated employees working collaboratively alongside devoted volunteers.

The projects are funded by individual investors who receive a modest return. If you are interested in investing you can apply for shares using Brixton energy's online form.
